Artist Jack Puglisi displays thirty years’ worth of unique pointillism artwork

Lifelong Pittsburgh native Jack Puglisi will be displaying his creations of highly detailed pen-and-ink drawings from Thursday, April 6, through Friday, April 28, 2023, at Spinning Plate Gallery, 5720 Friendship Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. A meet-the-artist opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 5:00 to 8:00. Puglisi will also host a special artist talk at the gallery in which he will discuss his artwork, themes, methods, and related topics on Saturday, April 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

His primary medium is pen and ink, and the technique of pointillism is the expression he favors most. Pointillism is the method of composing pictures from thousands upon thousands of hand-placed dots of ink, creating colors and shades by the juxtaposition of the dots. A large picture can take up to three months to complete, with countless hours invested in the finished piece.

I am really honored by this award and wanted to share it with everyone.

Dale Alan Schmitt Photography is honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography

Pittsburgh, PA. – Dale Alan Schmitt of Dale Alan Schmitt Photography in Pittsburgh, PA. was named a Gold Medalist during Professional Photographers of America's 2022 International Photographic Competition. Schmitt's work will be on display at the upcoming Imaging USA, to be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort-Nashville, TN, from January 22-24, 2023. Imaging USA is one of the largest annual conventions and expos for professional photographers.

A panel of 36 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from over 5,000 total submitted entries at PPA headquarters in Atlanta. Judged against a standard of excellence, 174 images were selected for the General Collection and 1013 (roughly 20 percent) were selected for the esteemed Imaging Excellence Collection—the best of the best. The Imaging Excellence Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated "Imaging Excellence Collection" book by Marathon Press.

The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Imaging Excellence Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. Schmitt was named a Gold Medalist, meaning that two of their four merited images entered the PPA Imaging Excellence Collection. In 2022, they were one of only 113 Gold Medalists.

    About PPA:

Founded in 1868, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the largest and longest-standing nonprofit photography trade association. It currently helps 34,000 professionals elevate their craft and grow their business with resources, protection, and education, all under PPA’s core guiding principle of bridging the gap between photographers and consumers.
