P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists
Fall 2017 General Membership Meeting
Sunday November 12, 2017
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Landmarks Preservation Resource Center
744 Rebecca Avenue
Wilkinsburg PA 15221
The Landmarks Preservation Resource Center is a meeting space and educational facility in Wilkinsburg, PA. It was developed and is owned by the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation. Sculptor James Shipman’s studio and sculpture garden are on site.
We are so excited to invite all P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists members to attend this Fall 2017 General Membership Meeting in a new meeting location. Get to know our newest members who will be introduced... spend time talking art and ideas with other exceptional artists, like yourself. It will be fun, informative and inspirational. And… there will be snacks. We will have a tour of Sculptor James Shipman’s studio and sculpture garden on site.
Where: Here is a map link as if you are coming from East End Coop.
More about directions: James Shipman explained that rather than relying on GPS
due to all the one way streets in Wilkinsburg it is easier to do it this way:
If you are coming on Penn Avenue from Bakery Square direction toward Wilkinsburg, turn right at the light onto Pennwood Ave just BEFORE you go under the train tracks into Wilkinsburg (you will have just passed a MacDonald’s on Penn Ave).
At the 2nd traffic light turn left onto Rebecca Ave. This intersection has a Y that offers two ways to turn left under the tracks, and you are talking the more rightward choice of the two, which is Rebecca. Landmarks Preservation Resource Center will be on the right a couple of blocks in after you go under train tracks.
There is a parking lot and free street parking.
The P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists was founded in May 1965. With more than 300 members, whose work represents all visual-arts media, the P I T T S B U R G H Society of Artists is the largest guild of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. In 2015 PSA marked its 50th year dedicated to providing its members with opportunities to exhibit their art, both in the Pittsburgh area and beyond southwestern Pennsylvania.
In addition to providing exhibition opportunities, the Society since its inception has been dedicated to encouraging creative thinking about the arts through public dialogue. At our general membership meetings, held twice a year, the guild engages speakers to explore some aspect of the arts. The general public has always been invited to these stimulating programs.
Any individual eighteen years old or older who lives within 150 miles of Pittsburgh may apply for membership by submitting three original pieces of art to a screening by the Board of Directors. Screenings are held in the spring and fall of each year.
